Our Story

Safe & Sound Wellness began with a simple intention: to share the practices of sound and meditation with our community.

Over time, that intention has grown into a dedicated sound healing studio and a small, thoughtfully curated team of practitioners — each bringing their own experience, training, and presence to the space.

Today, Safe & Sound offers sound baths, private sessions, workshops, and restorative Yin Yoga + Sound experiences, all designed to create space for deep relaxation, reconnection, and a greater sense of balance.

Located within the Oldest City Arts & Wellness Lounge in downtown St. Augustine, our studio is intentionally intimate — a place to step away from the noise of everyday life and into stillness.

Founded by Christen Helme

Christen spent many years living in New York City and working in project management before eventually finding her way to St. Augustine, Florida.

Her path to creating Safe & Sound was deeply personal — and, in many ways, bigger than herself.

After becoming a mother in 2020, Christen experienced postpartum depression, anxiety, and panic, which opened the door to a deeper exploration of healing, slowing down, and learning to listen to what her body and nervous system were asking for. Along the way, she began exploring holistic health practices as part of her own healing journey, including functional medicine, EMDR therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, yoga, meditation, breath work, and a multidimensional approach to health and well-being.

It was through this exploration that Christen experienced her first sound bath. She was amazed by how deeply relaxed she felt and by the sense of stillness that followed. She began incorporating crystal singing bowls and Koshi chimes into her own daily practice, discovering how sound and vibration helped her create moments of calm in her body and reconnect with her intuition.

What began as a personal practice gradually became something she felt called to share. She began offering sound healing sessions within the St. Augustine community, and the response was deeply encouraging. When the opportunity arose to create a space where she could share these experiences more consistently, she took a leap of faith — and Safe & Sound was born.

Growing Together

As Safe & Sound has grown, so has the community holding it.

Our team is made up of experienced sound facilitators who each bring their own background, training, perspective, and presence to the space.

Together, we share a common intention: to create experiences that feel welcoming, grounded, and thoughtfully held, while bringing our individual knowledge and experience to the work.

We believe there is something meaningful about experiencing sound and rest in community — while also honoring that everyone's experience is personal.

Together, we create space for rest, connection, and simply being.

Our Approach

Our approach to sound healing is holistic and science-informed, drawing from an understanding of the mind-body connection, nervous system regulation, meditation, and integrative wellness. We recognize that wellbeing is not one-dimensional — our mental, physical, emotional, and energetic experiences are deeply interconnected.

Every person arrives with their own story, needs, boundaries, and reasons for being here. We create experiences that are thoughtfully held, giving each person the freedom to settle in, listen inward, and receive what feels supportive to them.

Our sound baths are intentionally designed to be:

Restorative
A place to pause, breathe, and deeply rest.

Trauma-Informed
We honor choice, boundaries, and each person's sense of safety.

Intentional
Every experience is thoughtfully held — from the sound and environment to the way each session is facilitated.

Inclusive
Everyone is welcome here, exactly as they are.

Our Mission

To create spaces where people can come home to themselves.

At Safe & Sound Wellness, we believe meaningful change can begin when we feel supported and safe enough to soften.

Through sound healing and intentional experiences, we create opportunities for deep rest, inner connection, nervous system support, and meaningful community.

You are safe.
You are sound.
You are whole.
