Our Story

Safe & Sound Wellness was created as a sanctuary for deep rest, connection, and healing in St. Augustine, Florida. What began as one woman’s personal journey has grown into a collaborative space where people are invited to soften, reconnect, and feel supported — together.

Founded by Christen Helme, this studio is a dedicated sound healing space offering individual and group experiences designed to help people slow down, regulate their nervous systems, release stress, and reconnect with themselves through the therapeutic power of sound. It is located within the Oldest City Arts & Wellness Lounge, a shared wellness building that also hosts a variety of complementary offerings.

Through sound baths and intentional gatherings, the work here blends ancient healing traditions with modern integrative tools to support deep rest, nervous system regulation, the release of stress, and a deeper connection with one’s intuition.

Growing Together

While Safe & Sound Wellness began with Christen's personal journey into sound healing, the studio has since expanded to include a small circle of trusted practitioners who share the same values of presence, compassion, and community care.

Each practitioner brings their own unique gifts, training, and perspective, allowing the studio to offer a wider variety of experiences while preserving the warmth, intention, and personalized care that have been at the heart of Safe & Sound Wellness since the beginning.

The Beginning
Christen’s path into this work is deeply personal. After the birth of her daughter, she experienced postpartum depression and anxiety—an initiation that ultimately revealed the profound healing power of sound healing. What began as a personal practice soon became a calling, immersing her in the world of vibrational healing, meditation, and integrative wellness.

With a B.S. in Psychology and nearly a decade of experience in the fast-paced world of New York City, Christen felt called to slow down and realign with a more grounded, nourishing way of life. Relocating to Florida opened the door to a powerful transformation—one that reawakened her connection to nature, spirit, and self.

Training & Experience
Christen has immersed herself deeply in the study of sound, attending workshops with various sound healers and learning from experts in the field. She completed Sound Healing Mastery Levels 1 & 2 through Sound Bath Jax Academy under the mentorship of Diana Vasquez. She has also trained under renowned gong artist and educator Mike Tamburo, further expanding her understanding of the therapeutic power of vibration and resonance.

Since beginning this work, Christen has facilitated over 200 sound baths—ranging from intimate one-on-one sessions to large-scale community gatherings—each one rooted in intention, compassion, and love.

In addition to her sound healing studies, Christen received her Health Coach Certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where her training emphasized the concept of Multidimensional Health—the understanding that true well-being is holistic and includes every aspect of an individual: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Her education focused on coaching techniques and holistic practices designed to support balance across all layers of being.

With this foundation, she supports others through the lens of functional health, encouraging clients to get curious about their symptoms and view them as powerful guides on the path to deeper healing.

Our Mission
Through sound healing and intentional experiences, we create spaces where people can come home to themselves—spaces of deep rest, remembrance, and inner connection.

At Safe & Sound Wellness, we believe that healing happens when we feel seen, supported, and safe enough to soften. Through sound baths, workshops, and collaborative offerings, our mission is to help individuals reconnect with themselves, regulate their nervous systems, and cultivate greater balance, presence, and well-being.

Stories from the Sound
People arrive carrying many different stories — some spoken, many unspoken.

Through sound, we have witnessed moments of deep release, reconnection, celebration, and healing. From sisters supporting one another, to mothers and daughters resting side by side, to couples reconnecting, to solo travelers finding safety in stillness — each session is a reminder that sound meets people exactly where they are.

These experiences are not performances.
They are quiet, brave, sacred moments of returning home to the body. 🤍

Beyond the Work
When not facilitating sessions or supporting the community, Christen can be found soaking up beach days, savoring slow mornings, cooking nourishing meals, and enjoying sweet family time with her husband, daughter, and their rescue pup.
